OpenLab™

OpenLab™ is a unique embedded design platform developed in Etiq lab aiming to bridge the gap between high end engineering theory knowledge and practical knowledge among engineering students and fresh graduates. It is a sophisticated platform on which one can find all the necessary electronic control modules, circuit making devices and ports. They are arranged on a base board in the modular fashion. This uniquely featured platform can be used to learn, experiment, design and implement a vast range of circuits.

Platform

While designing OpenLab™, utmost care was given to minimise the wiring. OpenLab™ has most of the important boards and circuits on-board and also has the option to connect other functional modules. It even supports Arduino shields which make it compatible with most of the available modules in the market. To use additional modules, you don’t need to use wires. The design is optimized for adding the modules directly into the platform which makes the product development process even faster.

Taking in account of the increasing demand of applications of microcontrollers such as 8051, AVR and ARM processor, Etiq has introduced the platform models with these devices replacing the PIC microcontroller whereas OpenLab PIC is still on demand.

OpenLab uses the default processor LPC1768. This is a 32-bit ARM based processor from NXP.

The microcontroller chip being used is PIC18F4550. This is an 8-bit Microcontroller from Microchip.

The microcontroller chip in use is ATMEL AT89S8253.

The microcontroller in use is ATMEL ATmega32 which is an 8-bit processor.

Additional boards

Using additional boards, functionality of the OpenLab platform can be extended. Here are the some of the available boards.

It Contains WiFi, Bluetooth, GSM/GPRS and GPS modules.

Using this board, user can control robotic arms (up to 16 servos) and DC motors.

This board helps to control AC devices by considering the AC phase.

ADC/DAC Board is for 8051 based OpenLab where a internal ADC/DAC module is not present, uses ADC0808/DAC0808.

It has a 3.2″ TFT LCD display based on ILI9341.

This is a 16 key touch keypad to replace normal 4×4 matrix keypad.

QuickInsert Boards

QuickInsert™ Boards are proprietary boards designed for OpenLab™ and IoT platforms by Etiq Technologies. It supports a wide range of sensors, transducers and communications technologies. We are constantly updating our inventory with latest sensors and technologies. These boards are plugin type boards that can be inserted directly inserted to your applications.

IoT design platform is a complete solution for connecting nearly any device around you which provides real-time digital data such as sensors, heat systems, and responds to commands from the Internet. IoT design platform has a gateway to connect the Internet and a number of portable nodes. There are different communication technologies available as QuickInsert boards to connect gateway to the nodes.

IoT Gateway

IoT gateway is a hub for connecting to the Internet and establishing a wireless link between nodes & cloud for fetching and storing real-time data for analysis, authentication and its real-time processing. IoT gateway brings various connectivity options to nodes and implements more than one wireless interfaces in a single board.

IoT Nodes

IoT nodes of IoT platform will work alone and transmit the data to the gateway. Multiple types of nodes will be available based on the type of wireless technology it uses to communicate with the gateway. The power supply will be derived from the battery and have different types of bus interface for connecting different sensors/actuators. It supports WiFi and Bluetooth communications by default and different wireless technologies can be added as QuickInsert boards.
